Hello I m Ewan.
For me, counselling is really about being able to listen to what people want to say, but don’t find it easy to.
I am then usually able to offer something which makes it easier to decide where they go next.
Some of the difficulties people bring to me come through the difficulties of trauma, or mental health diagnoses, loss, change or isolation. These are things I m familiar with – I ve worked as a counsellor for about twenty years now, and a lot of my work has been in health care settings. And I think this familiarity with the territory will help me focus on whats unique about your situation.
Counsellors believe that it’s the relationship that is the therapy.
Most counselling contracts are short – circumstances don’t give us a lot of time . So ‘the relationship’ is often reflected in how we do things – our arrangements and how we negotiate those. So I’ll do a lot of checking about your wishes, which can just sound polite, but is actually an invitation to think about what feels right (or not). I really encourage that to understand your uniqueness.
And I like it when clients ask me questions about what we’re doing..
If you’ve got this far and you’re feeling encouraged then its likely we can work together.
Have a look at my conditions and charges and book a trial session, and thanks for your time.
